Pagers or beepers are small electronically devices that can be used to send or receive messages. In order to receive and send messages you have to subscribe to a paging service because this pager doesn’t work as soon as you buy it, and you need a number for it just like a phone number that you receive from a phone service agency.
Today you can find tow types of pagers. One way, tow way pagers and alphanumeric pagers. The simple pager works on the principle of radio waves. The basic thing that this does is that it takes the radio wave and turns it into an electrical impulse that the pager recognizes.
The one way pager can only transmit the information but can not receive information from another pager. Tow way pagers can both send and receive information and some of them have alphanumeric properties. This just means that they can both send and receive information in text and in number. An alphanumeric pager is also a different type of pager that can receive sound and also e-mail.
These have a special keypad and uses satellite signal like the other pagers. Pagers are used by emergency personnel, police, and coast and local government emergency coordinators.
The functionality and the performances of the pager depend on the hardware but also the service page company. The pagers don’t give you a notice if the receiver has received your message but the basics are that these are more reliable than cell phones and don’t suffer from signally loss due to message conglomeration networks because they don’t work on that principle. You can send a page message like your phone number to somebody and they’ll get back to you by using a phone. You can also send numeric codes. This works for companies and other organizations but also for family embers. Let’s say that you have to work late and your family doesn’t know this. You just page a number that you and you family pre-establish that means “I’ll be late”. This is a very good ands secure way of transmitting cod messages like announcements, cancels or delays.
Pagers are much cheaper and can be found all over the market. These items come in small sizes and in different shapes not just the ordinary rectangular shape. You can purchase such an item online or from real store where prices are a little different but quality is the same, plus you have a great technological variety to choose from as well as tons of designs and colors.
This is why these devices are really popular starting with the ’80 and up until today. The pagers have evolved a lot and some of them don’t just beep, they also vibrate or make other sounds when you receive a message.
A miss lead of these pagers is that you have to pay a monthly feed that costs more than a cell phone. This is one of the reasons that cell phones are more popular and more looked for.
